Ralph Nader says of Ron Paul:

Libertarians like Ron Paul are on our side on civil liberties. They’re on our side against the military-industrial complex. They’re on our side against Wall Street. They’re on our side for investor rights. That’s a foundational convergence,” he exhorts. “It’s not just itty-bitty stuff.

Progressives who will be voting in 2012 need to decide if they’re voting for party or voting for principle.  And if for principle, they need to register as Independents (in semi-open primary states like NH) or go the Blue Republican route in closed states (like Iowa), soon – the chance to make this historic change and defeat the corporatocracy in will be gone in two weeks for NH, a bit later for other states.  States with fully-open primaries (like South Carolina) make it easier for voters (see the full list here).

And for the semi-open primary states, there’s no downside – if Obama is challenged in the party, an Independent can still vote in the Democratic Primary.  Those in the closed states have a bit of a harder choice, as the options are closed.  But in US history, only once has a sitting President lost a primary challenge, and that was Franklin Pierce in 1856.  With Harris showing Ron Paul as one of the two Republican candidates who could get elected in a general election (Obama remaining strong enough to beat all the rest), Ron Paul has much better odds of getting elected than Barack Obama has of losing his nomination.

Hundreds of people are dying every day because of the wars – the stakes couldn’t be higher.  Is that worth your effort to make a trip to City Hall?
